Reconstruction of the ruined houses annexed to Casa Jaumet
Bioconstruction Project
Reconstruction and protection of the old buildings annexed to Casa Jaumet using natural materials and preserving their original structure:
- We have three spaces: Era Recastell, Casa Merak, and Lo Paller de Merak.
Restoration work is being carried out with maximum respect for the environment using bioconstruction materials. - The farmhouses are designed to use dry toilets to prevent water waste and be more eco-friendly.
- The structures have been rebuilt, but some tasks remain to be completed and the interiors need proper design to become ecological houses focused on clean energy, water conservation, and self-sufficiency.
- Below you can see some photos of the project’s progress and current state:
Restoration of the Camí de la Costa Trail
Trail restoration works leading to the abandoned village of Aramunt Vell.
- Clearing and cleaning of the path.
- Aramunt Vell was a medieval village, fortified with two gates and fully paved. The Camí de la Costa, which ran from Font Vella to the village center, was entirely stone-paved. We have restored the stone paving in front of our house as an example of what it once was.
When there was no water in the village, people and animals would frequently travel up and down the trail to fetch water and drink at the spring. This path is part of the village’s history. We even have an old document stating that if an animal defecated in front of Casa Jaumet, the dung would become the property of the house —a reflection of the hardships of those times. Nowadays, the trail is mainly used by curious tourists visiting the old village.
Projects within Casa Jaumet
The tasks to be carried out within the Casa Jaumet space are as follows:
- Renovation of Casa Jaumet. The house is habitable but the top floor remains unfinished. The plan is to build a large space to serve as a nature classroom, a place for learning and outreach, with a kitchen-workshop, a bathroom, and rooms to accommodate up to 15 people. The project is currently under construction, halfway done.
- Caring for the fields around Casa Jaumet and making use of the land’s produce. Farming tasks are part of our daily life.
- Cultivation of traditional agricultural varieties: Reviving the cultivation of nearly forgotten garden crops: sweet acorn oaks, large-fruited jujube trees, striped figs...
- Marketing of agricultural products. We have all the permits to sell our products, and you can buy them by contacting us: honey, olive oil, saffron, almonds, walnuts, fruit, and vegetables from the garden...
- Edible forest: Working on an inventory of wild edible plants in our area and studying their use in cooking.

Everything seems impossible until it is achieved!
Collaborations and volunteering in bioconstruction and agricultural work
We always need hands! We believe that each joint project is an opportunity to share knowledge and learn. We have welcomed people eager to learn about organic farming, beekeeping, permaculture (design for the sustainable use of local resources), and bioconstruction. Also for construction work, technical tasks, or simply harvesting the garden, picking almonds, lavender, or guests interested in documenting the project or participating in yoga practices and retreats. If you feel like contributing your time or want to make us a proposal, write to us through the contact form or the email address below.
Do you want to be part of the project?
Collaborations, volunteering and exchanges
If you feel like collaborating, send us your proposal and we will reply as soon as possible. Thank you!
